Rick Moranis first gained comedic notoriety in the early ’80s as a cast member on the renowned Canadian sketch comedy series, Second City Television (other prominent cast members included John Candy, Catherine O’Hara and Martin Short). Moranis went on to star in Hollywood comedy classics like Honey, I Shrunk the Kids, Little Giants, Spaceballs and, of course, Ghostbusters.

This week, Mr. Throwback ate an Oreo cookie inside of another cookie and hung out with Kid Cudi. He also selected the theme song from Space Jam as his throwback pick of the week. The 1996 live-action/animated cinematic masterpiece stars Michael Jordan as Michael Jordan (it’s the part he was born to play), who in 1993 retires from basketball to attempt a career as a baseball player (which, unfortunately, actually happened).

Mr. Throwback has had an eventful few days: he made a cameo appearance on the Jumbotron at the Garden and then Allan Houston, assistant GM of the Knicks, dropped off a jersey [update: not really! Mr. Throwback was just kidding around on Instagram] at his store. And yet he still found time to make his throwback pick of the week.

Whether you’re a Toad, a Peach or a Bowser, most agree that Super Mario Kart is one of if not the best video games of all time (According to Guinness it is. They granted the Super Mario Kart series top billing in their top 50 console games. The rankings were awarded based on “initial impact and lasting legacy”). Launched in Japan on August 27, 1992, the game features Mario, Luigi and their pals fighting for first and deploying red shells at anyone who stands in their way. Watch as Mr. Throwback takes on the classic Mario circuit with his preferred character, Toad.

Like most males who grew up in the ’80s, Mr. Throwback was enamored with the Chicago Bulls. When he came home from college and rediscovered his childhood room, which was lovingly decorated with Bulls paraphernalia, the pleasant feeling of nostalgia prompted him to start poking around the Internet for other nifty finds. He then purchased 1,000 jerseys and 1,000 hats (sure, why not), which he started selling at the Hells Kitchen Flea at 39th and Ninth.
