Man are the husband-and-wife team behind Chelsea’s Cookshop keeping busy. Last week Vicki Freeman and Marc Meyer debuted Vic’s in the space that previously held their Noho brunch spot Five Points. And now, with this sign, they’ve announced to the denizens of Second Avenue that they’re getting ready to open Rosie’s in the former home of Boukies.

New York gave the heads up about this one in its fall preview — apparently it was inspired by the couple’s “whirlwind reconnaissance trip to Mexico.”

According to the former Five Points website, Vic’s is Freeman’s “passion project” while Rosie’s is Meyer’s. The latter will serve “authentic, seasonal fare” when it opens in December.

This can’t be a welcome development for the recently opened Black Ant, which is just a block away from Rosie’s address of 29 East 2nd Street.

One thing’s for sure, between these two openings and that of Empellon Al Pastor (not to mention other relative newcomers like Sembrado) the East Village is swimming in chef-driven Mexican food.
