Just like Saul Goodman was such a hit on Breaking Bad that he got his own show, the wildly popular churro cone at Dessert Club, ChikaLicious is getting its own shop on Avenue A. Dessert Club has closed its location at 204 East 10th Street (ChikaLicious Dessert Bar remains up and running across the street) and has reopened at 151 Avenue A under the name Churro Cone.

As you might have guessed, Churro Cone specializes in Dessert Club’s signature soft-serve atop a giant churro, in varieties such as the Nutty Professor (a churro smeared with Nutella and rimmed with brown sugar, packed with vanilla soft serve, and topped with toasted almonds, a drizzle of Nutella, and frosted pecans) and the S’more (a churro dusted with brown sugar, packed with graham cracker vanilla ice cream, and topped with torched marshmallow cream).

New to this location is the Crazy Rich Asian, consisting of tiramisu-pecan-mascarpone-espresso ice cream and cocoa-powder-dusted ladyfinger.

The churro cone (no relation to the churro taco waffle) was part of a churro renaissance when it first started getting buzz a couple of years ago. With this dedicated location on Avenue A, it will compete with nearby dessert concoctions like donut ice cream sandwiches and gelato sushi. Hopefully it’ll last longer than Eggloo’s egg-waffle ice cream, which left Avenue A after just a year.

Churro Cone, 131 Avenue A, bet. 8th and 9th Sts.; open Thurs. to Sun., 1pm to 11pm.
