If you missed the Tompkins Square Halloween Costume Dog Parade, don’t get all hangdog. Celebrate the new Dining With Dogs law and parade your poodle at these upcoming events.

HALLOWEEN-PAWFEST_10-27Halloween Pawfest
Oct. 31, noon at Riis Point Bar, Jacob Riis Park, 157 Rockaway Beach Blvd., Rockaway.
After getting its first Mermaid-esque Poseidon Parade last month, Rockaway now has a doggie costume contest as well, thanks to the folks at the newly opened Wildfeast at Riis and the adjacent Riis Point Bar. Lola Star, of the Coney and Rockaway gift boutique of the same name, will be among the judges, plus there’ll be a “party wagon” of beer, a pig roast, pumpkin carving, and live performances by The Supertones, The Shipwrecks, and The Flesh. Plenty of reasons to kick off your Halloween at the beach.

unnamed-14Man’s Best Friend: “Dog” Show
Nov. 7 to Dec. 6 (opening reception Nov. 7 from 4-6pm) at WAH Center, 135 Broadway, Williamsburg,
Dog paintings by Eric Ginsburg, dog photos by William Wegman, Koons-esque dog sculptures by Taiwanese artist Poren Huang, and a variety of dog-centric art culled from an open call will be on display at the former bank building that houses the Williamsburg Art & Historical Center. This show will no doubt be similar to the cat-and-dog-themed show that Mark Miller Gallery put on, but without the dopey cats.

Nov. 8, 3-5pm at The Diamond, 43 Franklin St., Greenpoint.
Laurie Anderson loves her less-than-perfect dog, and so does The Diamond. The Greenpoint bar is calling on owners of “underdogs” to show off their not-ready-for-Westminster players. Donate $10 to BARC animal shelter and parade your mongrel before a panel that will judge based on smell, obedience (or lack thereof), and “Proletarian Demeanor.” The winning mutt will get a trophy and a bone, and every dog will get party favors.
