Well, that was fast. Just a handful of months after Giulio Adriani transformed his Italian spot Forcella into a tapas bar named Espoleta, he’s bowing out to let Forcella’s former general manager Gianni Nocella open a — yes — Italian spot in the space. Que sera, sera.

Adriana will focus on his adjacent “pizza speakeasy,” SRO as well as the Neapolitan Express chain, where he’s culinary director, and Nocella has opened Gia Trattoria, an Italian joint serving handmade pastas. And just in case all of that wasn’t enough musical chairs, the chef at Gia Trattoria is Christian Iannicella, formerly of Gemma, the Italian spot across the street.

According to a press release, Gia Trattoria’s pastas, bread and mozzarella will be made in-house daily.
