Welcome to Mourn Porn, where we present bygone institutions in states of disheartening disarray, just to ruin your day. Above we bring you the former Motor City Bar, completely gutted. (Those poles are not there for Anna Copa Cabanna, who lately has been dancing in Williamsburg, at Passenger Bar’s Disco Night.) Workers were paving new, bizarrely unsticky floors today.
As previously mentioned, the space has been taken over by Raymond Yuk of Essex Street dance den Foundation and his partner Joseph Torres.
And here’s a look at what used to be ‘inoteca, on Rivington and Ludlow. Today it was being disassembled by a crew working for Michael Torres, who — per a liquor license questionnaire — plans to bring an outpost of his Soho trattoria, Galli, to the space.
Also under renovation today was the former Earthmatters space, at 177 Ludlow. Spanish chain 100 Montaditos was pursuing the space a year ago and the address is listed as an upcoming opening on the chain’s site.
