Funny we were just talking about iO Tillett Wright and the East Village memoir she just sold: Sunday afternoon at the Wythe Hotel, she’ll be at a party for “Self-Evident Truths,” her quest to photograph 10,000 LGBTQ people around the country so their portraits can be installed on the National Mall.

The above video explaining the project and the “WE ARE YOU” campaign that accompanies it stars familiar locals like Kyp Malone of TV on the Radio, Steve Buscemi, and Penn Badgley, who will DJ at the launch party along with his bandmate in Mother, Jimmy Giannopolous (who is also in Lolawolf, who we also wrote about earlier today. The band plays for kids at NYU Skirball on Saturday and for adults at Babys All Right on Tuesday.)

The party is hosted by Witches of Bushwick, B+B favorite Lauren Flax, photographer/artist Skye Parrott (founder of Dossier) and many more fashionable types — so you’ll probably want to insure entry (which is free) by RSVPing to selfevidentrsvp@gmail.com or by filling out a release form online if you want to get your photo snapped by iO.
