Rockaway Taco is set to open tomorrow, and that isn’t the only great news coming out of the peninsula. Rockaway Beach Surf Club, the indoor-outdoor spot that hosted Tiki Disco’s last bash of the summer, is also back for the season (as the above trailer reveals) and will now offer food. The surf fiends who run the place have teamed up with the folks at Williamsburg restaurants Urban Rustic and Lodge to a launch Southern barbecue-inspired menu.

Have a look at it and you’ll see snacks like beer-boiled peanuts, sandwiches like a shrimp po boy, and plates of Carolina-style pulled pork, root beer-glazed smoked baby backs, and masa-dusted flounder. During brunch, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays, there’s shrimp and grits, a breakfast burrito, and healthier options like an acai bowl.

A flyer advertising the new offerings promises local produce and “ethically raised” meats, plus vegan options like smoked tofu.

The full menu officially launches May 9, but you can sample it this Sunday during Taste of Rockaway, a food crawl offering bites from 10 restaurants for $10.
