You’ll get a kick out of this.

The proprietor of Zum Schneider will be sporting a new look when Karneval festivities kick off tonight. As you can see from the photo at left, Sylvester Schneider has dyed his hair to resemble a soccer ball.

This year the Avenue C beer hall is merging Karneval, known as Fasching in Germany, with the upcoming World Cup. Partygoers are encouraged to dress up in outfits representing their country of choice, team up, and join restaurant staffers outfitted by Angela Wendt (award-winning costume designer for Rent) as they sing and dance to the music of Benjamin Ickies, Ambitious Orchestra, Oh! You Pretty Things, and DJ Volka Racho.

After the cabaret, futbol enthusiasts can hit the dance floor, which has been transformed into a non-regulation length soccer field. Tickets for the festivities, which continue through Fat Tuesday, are $15 or $18 at the door.
