The apocalypse may just be upon us: first a cab bursts into flames on its way to Brooklyn and today a tree went and fell over on Havemeyer, near Metropolitan. Keenan O’Meara, who works the front desk at Persons of Interest said the tree almost took out the barber shop/cafe’s awning (which would’ve been a little bit ironic, since the place sells delightful tree-scented incense).

The falling timber apparently brought down some power lines and damaged a small hatchback and a motorcycle across the street, bringing police, fire, and parks department officials to the scene. “They wood-chipped the whole thing in an hour and a half,” O’Meara said.

Luckily, no one was injured, leaving one nearby business to crack a joke.
