Sushi Lounge isn’t the only Japanese spot in the East Village that just moved to new digs on the same street. Over on East 9th, Otafuku has, as expected, moved over to a larger new space that — just like Egg’s upgrade — will hopefully put the kibosh on having to wait outside.

In addition to the menu below, Otafuku x Medetai (as the new incarnation is being billed, though you’re welcome to just keep calling it Otafuku, after the Goddess of Mirth who’s the shop’s patron) is serving prepared salads, packaged varieties of daifuku (stuffed mochi cakes), and bottled Japanese drinks. The takoyaki masters are still perfecting their method of making taiyaki (those little fish-shaped red-bean cakes), but once they’re added to the menu, they’ll be available as a $9 combo along with the octopus balls that made this place the stuff of legend.
