The plywood came off of the former Blimpie on the corner of Fourth Avenue and 13th Street to reveal – you guessed it – another Liquiteria! The juice bar’s latest forthcoming location – after the one that’s replacing Gray’s Papaya, which seems to be coming along slowly – is opening “soon,” according to an employee at the chain’s original Second Avenue store who said there’s no exact date yet. It’ll be the same as the three locations that are currently open around the East Village and Chelsea, she said.
While you wait for that, head over to 121 University Place and East 13th, where Be Juice (no relation to beQu) just opened. The corner nook serves juices ($6.99 for 16 oz, $7.99 for 24 oz) with names like Inner Beauty (beets, pineapple, carrots, cilantro) and Red Head Smile (cantaloupe, orange, cilantro, beets, ginger) and smoothies (same price) with names like Let’s Dance (pineapple, cucumber, coconut water, mango, pinch of cilantro) and Middle East Love (watermelon and mint). Supplements ($1) include protein, spirulina, flax seeds, and bee pollen.
