Wednesday, October 25 at Union Pool, 7:30 pm: $5 advance, $7 doors

What is The Juice? Is it pressed and does it cost $9 for some reason? I do not know about how pressing the situation is, but I do know that this juice costs $5 in advance and $7 at the door. It is also a comedy show hosted by Carmen Christopher, which seems more enjoyable than sipping some green and/or pulpy liquid through a straw, which we were recently reminded are bad. Tonight, the show welcomes stand-up from Liza Treyger, Casey James Salengo, Dan Licata, and Greta Titelman, and improv from John Reynolds, Zack Pearlman, Monique Moses, Meghan Strickland, Matt Barats, and Zach Cherry. Talking East Village-Bushwick With the Bi-Borough Producers of Slideluck

The concept is kind of irresistible: a free dinner followed by a slideshow of local artwork. The Slideluck Potshow [the former Slideluck Potshow has rebranded as just Slideluck] began in photographer Casey Kelbaugh’s backyard in Seattle in 2000, expanded to Amsterdam, Nairobi, Bogota and beyond, and it’s coming to Bushwick this Thursday. This year, it’ll feature the work of 25 Bushwick and East Williamsburg-based artists (their names are below), one of which will be selected for a solo show at the Living Gallery in October. Bring a homemade potluck dish and you’ll get two raffle tickets for goodies from local businesses.

Alaska Bounces Back From Fire (With Flaming Shots, Natch)

Less than a month after a “freak electrical fire” cleared Alaska and forced it to close, the Bushwick bar is back on its feet. It’ll reopen tomorrow, according to a Facebook invite that promises “an INORDINATE AMOUNT of open flame candles!!!” (they’re kidding, they’re kidding). Here’s the good word.

Baked Alaska? Fire Clears Out Bushwick Bar [Update]

An all-hands fire broke out tonight at 35 Ingraham Street, home of taxidermy-n’-whiskey lair Alaska.

According to the FDNY, the fire was called in at 9:49 p.m. and took nearly an hour to be brought under control.
