When Mary’s Greenpoint Tavern closed earlier this month after nearly 65 years on Bedford Avenue, we thought we’d never again be able to settle into one of those cherry-red stools. Well, turns out you’ll have a chance to own them when the bar’s contents go up for sale this weekend.

The entire contents of 188 Bedford Avenue, which has been bought by Redsky Capital along with the adjacent buildings, are being sold off on Saturday and Sunday, March 30 and 31, from 10am-4pm. The estate sale will include what are presumably the possessions of Rosemary Bleday, the proprietress who lives above the bar, and the contents of her beloved dive, including glassware, booths, the signature year-round Christmas lights, tables, and more. A notice posted in the bar’s window says neon signs are also in the mix, though it’s unclear whether the iconic neon rose in the front window will be for sale.

You can see some of the offerings online.

Another sign now posted in the window of the darkened bar tells passersby “Cheers and Tears for 64 Years”:

Thank for you [sic] patronage and loyalty through the years. Many have worked, played, celebrated, collaborated and met the love of their lives. The friendships we’ve made will always be treasured and the memories will never be forgotten.

With much love,
Rosemary & Family
