If you thought Lena Dunham reached the pinnacle of fame when she became a surrogate for Hillary Clinton, and Abbi Jacobson and Ilana Glazer did the same when the presidential frontrunner went on Broad City, think again. This, dear readers, is the ne plus ultra: They’ve all been immortalized as Garbage Pail Kids. That’s right, not only has GPK released a new election-themed Disgrace to the White House series, but they’ve unleashed a series of sticker cards making fun of everything on TV that isn’t Desperado Donald.
The so-called Prime Slime Trashy TV series features parodies of 90 TV shows, organized by genres like food (Anthony Burned-ain), late-night (Mauled Maher and Severed Samantha), news (Mangled Megyn and Kooky Cooper). In the comedy category, Abbi and Ilana are represented by two versions of the card you see above, one dubbed Abbi Normal (get it? abnormal?) and the other dubbed Lazy Ilana. In the drama series, Dunham is dubbed Lena Dumpham and Heinous Hannah. As you can see, both the Broad City and Girls parodies involve toilet bowls and errant body fluids. (Don’t worry, Trump also got the toit treatment.)
By the way, Abbi and Lena are actually set to meet in real life, when they get together at Symphony Space to talk about Jacobson’s new collection of illustrations, Carry This Book. According to Penguin’s selling copy, the book “brings to life actual and imagined items found in the pockets and purses, bags and glove compartments of real and fantastical people—whether it’s the contents of Oprah’s favorite purse, Amelia Earhart’s pencil case, or Bernie Madoff’s suitcase.” You can catch a glimpse of the imaginary stashes via the preview above. Looks like Donald Trump carries a copy of Building For Dummies, tanner, and a “Make Your Hair Great Again” comb. Ilana Wexler carries (what else?) a Pax vaporizer (#vapelife).
Unfortunately, the Oct. 25 event at Symphony Space is sold out, but you can pre-order a signed copy of Carry This Book at Strand and the Garbage Pail Kids stickers are now available wherever fine GPK cards are sold.
