The Cock has moved its trademark neon rooster up a few blocks and it’s now glowing/crowing atop the former home of Lit Lounge. After going two rounds in what might be called a cockfight with Community Board 3, it looks like the gay bar and East Village institution has emerged with its feathers unruffled. Last night, the Oh, Fuck You Honey party was in full swing in the basement, which looks pretty much exactly like it did before Lit closed in July, with the notable addition of some gogo dancers, a shirtless bartender, and some red light bulbs strung up on the ceiling.

The Cock’s website advertises the new location at 93 Second Avenue as “BIGGER, HARDER, LONGER,” but it’s not, er, fully erect quite yet. The dive’s owner, Allan Mannarelli, tells us, “We are still digesting the move. Programming will be introduced slowly once we get the lay of the land in early 2016.” For now, the bar will be open Wednesday through Sunday on the ground floor only from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m., at which point the basement will open and the ground floor will close. Except, that is, on Fridays and Saturdays, when the ground floor will stay open along with the basement after 11 p.m.
