True story: today someone tried to charge me $4.50 for a cup of drip coffee. It was a Times Square tourist trap that I ducked into during a moment of groggy desperation, but still. In this city of nitro cold brews and deconstructed lattes, is there any hope for someone who just wants to enjoy a cheap cuppa, “construction-worker-style”? Enter the Cafe Bustelo pop-up.
Next Tuesday through Sunday, the East Harlem-born coffee brand will once again take over 168 Bowery, where it posted up this time last year, and dole out free shots of espresso and cups of regular and decaf coffee. Add to that, there are iPhone charging stations and wifi, so you can juice up before that show at Bowery Ballroom. Or just catch a free show at the pop-up: B+B favorites Jukebox the Ghost will be performing there Oct. 25 at 2 p.m.
Café Bustelo® Pop-Up Café Experience, open 168 Bowery, at Kenmare St., from Oct. 20 to Oct. 25, Tuesday through Friday from 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
