Flea markets may be twee, but that isn’t stopping Williamsburg from getting another one. Flea Market Betty will open next month on a pair of empty lots at 87 Havemayer Street, near Metropolitan Avenue.
According to Jill Pescatore, a commercial real estate broker who’s organizing the open-air market, the flea’s 50 vendors will offer a mix of food, used and locally designed clothing, crafts and accessories — and there will also be a farmer’s market element.
Pescatore expects to attract “local residents as well as the influx of travelers who are touring the bustling neighborhood.” She only came up with the idea a couple of months ago (she’s working on lining up permits for some live performances), but next year she expects the bazaar to go from April through December, when there may be a holiday market.
For now, starting July 5, will be in action Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
