When Dumont closed in January following the suicide of owner Colin Devlin, his widow Kristina Greene said she was merely completing some upgrades and would reopen the Williamsburg fixture before the spring. But this doesn’t give us hope: a “notice of termination” spotted outside of the restaurant gives it five days to vacate the premises. The document, dated March 21 and signed by the building’s landlord, claims Dumont hasn’t paid rent all year.
Dumont’s website still says it will reopen: “Due to unforeseen circumstances, Dumont is closed for renovations in both the kitchen and garden,” it reads. “We expect to reopen in a short period of time. Please check back for updates.”
We’ll let you know if we hear more.
