Dario Wolos, who opened a taqueria inside a VW bus in a Nolita loft in 2010 after trying it out in Southern Mexico first, now wants to bring the operation to Bushwick. But the taqueria is facing stiff opposition from members of Brooklyn’s Community Board 1, who sharply questioned Wolos Thursday night about whether his taco bus would force out industrial business that might otherwise move into the empty space.

“We’re concerned about losing small manufacturing in Brooklyn to the service industry,” said SLA committee member Tom Burrows, noting that the proposed taqueria was in one of the city’s industrial business zones.

Wolos assured the board that his organic tacos and tequila were “Mexican artisanal products” that should be considered local manufacturing.

If approved, Torterilla Grattan will open at 20 Grattan street, between Morgan Avenue and Bogart Street.
