The newsstand at Astor Place has reopened to much fanfare, but over in Williamsburg, inside of the Lorimer-Metropolitan station, another beloved newsstand is closing.
The Newsstand, which opened in June, is shuttering at the end of this week. Lele Saveri, the pop-up zine shop’s operator, says he doesn’t yet know when or where it’ll reopen; in the meantime, he’s focusing on MuddGuts, which he opened with Mark Cross in November. “It will have a pretty similar vibe and attitude,” he said of the hybrid space.
The final show, on Saturday, will feature photos of commuters who passed through the quirky kiosk over the course of its seven-month run. According to the invite, “There will be music, people, videos, juices and sodas, fun and lots and lots of commuters.”
Here’s what else is going on at the Newsstand during its final week, per its newsletter.
