Just a few weeks after Joe Dough closed to focus on catering, a couple of other nearby takeout joints have shuttered — though temporarily. On First Avenue, This Little Piggy Had Roast Beef has gone dark after running afoul of the heath department, per a sign on the window: “Oops… we forgot to renew our permit… taking care of it and will reopen early in the week.”
Meanwhile, a block up and around the corner, on St. Marks Place, Xi’an Famous Foods has closed for a remodeling. Here’s the sign on the door:
To improve our restaurant space (for example: making room for more seats), we are currently renovating our restaurant. We look finish [sic] in about 3-4 weeks from this day [March 17].
