Soho House made the case for a liquor license at their impending Lower East Side location, Ludlow House, at the State Liquor Authority in Harlem today, with the LES Dwellers and several Ludlow Street residents in attendance to oppose it. Ludlow House’s legal representation, Donald Bernstein, attempted to prove that Soho House’s cultural programs, responsible leadership, relatively low-key nightlife, and classy members who “won’t be puking on stoops” will be a public benefit to the neighborhood.

Some Bushwick Seniors Had to Salsa Alone After Vito Lopez Stood Them Up
A small group of protesters and a festive group of old folks congregated today at the Borinquen Plaza Senior Center in Bushwick. The seniors were there to party with a salsa DJ while the protesters looked for a man who would never show up: Vito Lopez.Clucking Chickheads Are Lining Up For Free Blue Ribbon Fried Chicken
After a series of delays and under-the-radar soft openings (um hello, where was B+B’s invite?), Blue Ribbon Fried Chicken is finally hatching today, which is a relief because we are running out of chicken puns.
Earlier today, an employee told us the restaurant would be hosting a free tasting around noon, and then closing and re-opening for another free tasting around 6 p.m. Word has gotten out: as we post this, there are 25 people in a line that stretches out the door. Some of them are getting disgruntled (one of them said the line hadn’t moved in 15 minutes) but if you’re in need of a free lunch, you might want to stop yolking around and get over there.

Does This Man Have the Best Job in All of Brooklyn?
During the six months he’s been a barback at Pumps, six or seven dudes have asked Dillan Raia the same question: “How did you get that job?”
The Long Islander was doing flooring for his uncle when a family friend told him about every 23-year-old’s dream gig. It’s Happening: The Ramen Burger is Returning to Smorgasburg
When Ramen Burger sold out of 150 fried-noodle burgers at Smorgasburg last week, it was uncertain if they’d return, or if it would be the sort of once-in-a-lifetime debacle, like the Stones at Altamont, that we’d be telling our incredulous kids about years from now. But Keizo Shimamoto just made it official: they’ll be back Saturday and they’ll be doling out twice as many burgers — which means the line will be ten times as long.
If you go and you bring a book, remember to support your local bookstore, lest it become a ramen-burger takeout joint.

All good things must come to an end, and this is the season finale of “Bushwick Elucidations.” Before Tigre and Cricket pack up and do whatever it is they do when not doling out expert advice, they tackle a few last questions — and ask a couple of their own, starting with “What’s a newspaper?”
