Korilla Opens For a Test-Run Tonight, Launches Next Week

Hurry now to Korilla for their soft opening at Third Avenue and St. Marks Place — but don’t tell too many people, because they’re trying to keep it on the DL. The official opening should happen sometime next week (exact date TBD).

At the food-truck fleet’s first brick-and-mortar, you can choose from rice bowls, burritos, and salads with a selection of spicy pork, chicken, beef, tofu, and a wide array of kimchi and toppings. Rice bowls will go for $9, burritos for $8, and salads for $10.

City Council Passes Bill to Make Public Transit a Less Taxing Experience

The City Council passed a bill yesterday that would allow New Yorkers to set aside pre-tax pay for public transportation, potentially saving the average commuter hundreds of dollars a year. Just imagine how many Uber rides you could take with that, so as to avoid the miserable G train.

“Friends With Benefits For Life,” a new web series filmed in Bushwick, defies all stereotypes. Ben (played by Ben Kronberg) and Ana (played by Stefanie Londino) have a child together, but are strictly friends with benefits, a situation that gets more and more complicated as the show progresses. Director John Reaves describes the result as “our perspective on life and love and Bushwick (there’s your catchphrase or t-shirt slogan) in the form of some offbeat yet lovable characters.” He talked to us about why he chose to film mostly at Cobra Club and why you should check out the first season, now up on YouTube. We love it already.

New Bill Aims to Curb the Amount of Trash Being Trucked Through North BK

A day after Jared Leto graced Bushwick with his presence yesterday, another actor/rocker, Jason Schwartzman, was in the East Village today. A source spotted the indie moppet on the set of Mozart in the Jungle, the Amazon original series he’s co-producing with Roman Coppola.
