Who wants some tiger balls? Korilla BBQ is planning to open its first brick-and-mortar location this Friday in the East Village.
Remember how everyone loved the tacos at Korilla’s trucks? Well, they’ll be on the “secret menu” at Third Avenue and St. Marks Place. Plus, there’ll be rice balls and the aforementioned “tiger balls.” We can’t wait to find out what’s in those — a manager would tell us only that some kind of meat is involved. (Hopefully not tiger meat. That would be wrong.)
To no one’s surprise, the place plans to stay open till as late as 4 a.m. on the weekends in order to meet the demand of the “drunk crowd,” as the manager put it.
And speaking of the drunk crowd: last week when Korilla briefly opened for a test run, we saw the beginnings of Terry Galmitz’s cartoon mural of the East Village on the back wall. As you can see above, the work-in-progress now includes Mars Bar and CBGB, among other local watering holes. Have a look at the rest of it before it’s completed by Friday.
