Ever since Parasite made its local premiere at the New York Film Festival in October, everyone’s been talking about the Bong Joon-ho thriller about a working-class Korean family that insinuates itself into the life of a much wealthier family, to– let’s just say– memorable effect. If you haven’t seen it because movies are just so expensive these days, and if, somehow, no one has spoiled it for you at this point, you may want to get over to Industry City on Friday for a boozy free screening. Score one for the proletariat!

Rooftop Films, the folks who bring you the summer’s most quirky and ambitious outdoor film series, are wintering in Sunset Park this month with weekly 18-and-over screenings inside of BLDG 1 in Industry City. (Rounding out the month: Hustlers, the true-life strippers-gone-wild tale starring J. Lo; bittersweet Awkwafina vehicle The Farewell; and murder mystery Knives Out). Some of the work/play complex’s food vendors– which include Avocaderia, Ends Meat, and Bangkok B.A.R.– will be working overtime, and the liquor will be flowing as well.

RSVPing isn’t required but it’ll score you discounts such as $5 well drinks and $4 beers and wines at Burger Joint between 5pm and 7pm. Go ahead and cash in on those happy hour specials, ya big ol’ parasite.
