HBO series The Deuce is heading into its second season, as you can see from the trailer released yesterday; today, the production is taking over Blue and Gold Tavern in the East Village. An air conditioning unit is currently hooked up to the East 6th Street dive and a public notice indicates filming will occur until about 10pm.

The show, produced by David Simon and George Pelecanos of The Wire and Treme, last filmed at Blue and Gold two summers ago, when the block was taken over by vintage vehicles and ’70s flavor. The new season has been filming over the spring and summer: James Franco, who plays twin brothers caught up in NYC’s burgeoning porn industry, was spotted on set with co-star Maggie Gyllenhaal in May and with co-star Michael Rispoli in July.

The show’s actor-director-producer has maintained a relatively low profile since five women accused him of sexual misconduct in an LA Times piece in January. The actor denied the claims and HBO programming chief Casey Bloys said last month that the network ” felt comfortable with a second season” of The Deuce. It will premiere Sept. 9.
