The big news coming out of Coney Island today isn’t that the city just bestowed Scenic Landmark status on the Riegelmann Boardwalk. Sure, it’s cool that the 95-year-old boardwalk is joining the Cyclone and the Parachute Jump as a permanently protected icon. But that news pales in comparison to word that Pauly D, one third of Jersey Shore‘s MVP trio, will be spinning at Coney Art Walls this summer.
The asphalt mural gallery and food court just announced that on Sundays, it’ll host an outdoor club with multiple bars, daybeds, a faux lawn, and a dance floor with VIP area. A layout of the pop-up club even shows gogo areas in front of the stage. Billing itself as “the only beachside EDM day club concert series in NYC” and promising “a whole new universe– free of all inhibitions,” the so-called Magic Carousel will open May 27 with a set from turnt trumpeter Timmy Trumpet and will feature a DJ set from Lil Jon (What? Yeah!) on June 10. But who cares about getting low; we’re all about Pauly D.
If you’ve been watching Jersey Shore: Family Vacation, you know some meatballs are going down on June 24. So far this season, the spiky-haired one is the only one who hasn’t made a total ass of himself by taking home French fries, clogging toilets, or “saving” strippers. So why not reward the guy with some fist pumps? Just make sure to wear shades, lest his gold chains blind you; this is an afternoon show, after all. And if you want the full Jersey Shore experience, you can even inquire about bottle service.
Yes, bottle service at Coney Island. Unfortunately, the Landmarks Preservation Commission couldn’t prevent that.
