The Stromboli Bagel Is Bedford + Bowery’s Person of the Year

Ever since a friend sent me a NSFW photo of his Big Night-style Thanksgiving timpano, I’ve been craving the stuffed stuff. As if to answer my prayers, Black Seed Bagels has teamed up with cult pizzeria Emily to create a culinary mutt of the highest order: the stromboli bagel. Or is it a bagel stromboli?

For Black Seed’s latest chef collabo, the bakery’s executive chef Dianna Daoheung and Emily co-owner Matt Hyland have taken a poppy-and-sesame-seed bagel and stuffed it with mozzarella, salami, and spicy Italian peppers. It’s all drizzled with Mike’s Hot Honey for some spicy sweetness. It looks marvelous and messy– though not as messy as the mac-and-cheese bagel.

The Emily x Black Seed stromboli is $7.25 and will be available during the month of December at Black Seed’s locations in Nolita, East Village and Brookfield Place. Just remember, the only time you’re allowed to scoop a bagel is to stuff a bagel.
