Ice cream season ain’t over yet. Van Leeuwen, the artisanal ice cream brand that started out of a truck and now has stores in almost every neighborhood B+B covers (LES coming soon), is grand-opening its South Street Seaport outpost on Saturday with a cheap-scoop deal.
The scoops, normally $5.50, will be going for $1 from 1pm to 4pm. This location is at 224 Front Street, and like Van Leeuwen’s East Village shop, it’s just a block away from Big Gay Ice Cream, meaning the kids can get soft-serve (as long as you’re okay explaining to them what a Salty Pimp is) while you hit the hard stuff.
Though the grand opening isn’t till Saturday, the store has already quietly opened and is serving up a variety of coffee drinks, sundaes, splits, ice cream sandos, and root beer floats, in addition to vegan and dairy scoops and pints in flavors like Passion Fruit Layer Cake and the gluten-free Sweet Corn, Maple Crumble, Blueberry Jam.
