As we head into October and the garbage juice stank becomes a distant memory, let’s remember there’s no better time to drink outdoors. Here’s another destination to add to your list, along with Rockaway’s new off-season restaurant.
Smorgasburg opened a year-round outdoor location in Soho last month, and now Smorg Square is getting boozed up. Team Smorg tells us their bar is opening this weekend and will serve beer, wine, cider and cocktails. While other Smorg locations wind down (Prospect Park is open through Oct 22 and Williamsburg through Oct. 28), this one will be up and running through Christmas, Friday through Sunday.
If you haven’t yet made it over there, Smorg Square is located at Varick and Canal, in a triangle on the Soho/Tribeca border. Among the food vendors are Excell’s Kingston Eatery, Goa Taco, Lonestar Empire, Ramen Burger, Red Hook Lobster Pound, and Wowfulls. If you’re not scared of drunk shopping, there’s a year-round, indoor outpost of Brooklyn Flea right across the street, at 100 Avenue of the Americas.
