In the context of the Big Apple Circus, which returns in October, “circus cats” means tigers. But what about a circus of actual house cats? That’s right. The Chicago-based Acro-Cats are coming to Brooklyn, and you need to get tickets like. right. meow.

We last saw the Acro-Cats two years ago at The Muse. Our footage of their practice session should give you some idea of what’s in store at the Brooklyn Music School Theater, in Fort Greene, where they’ll be holding court Sept. 7 to 10.

Now, be warned, the flexible felines aren’t always so cooperative. Remember when their rescuer/trainer, Samantha Martin, tried to get them to do tricks on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert and they totally pussed out? (If not, watch at the top of the page.) Not that we blame them for being reluctant. Some of these stunts are truly hairy. Just rest assured that for the $25 price of admission, you’ll also get to see the Rock Cats, the all-cat rock band that performed at this year’s Puppy Bowl as Kitty Gaga. Seriously, these guys are the most impressive cat musicians since Cat Stevens. Or Felix the Housecat.

I know what you’re wondering: Do they really play their instruments? Hey, I’m not about to rat them out.

Correction: The original version of this story misstated that the Big Apple Circus was defunct; in fact, it was sold to a new owner and relaunched.
