Last we heard about the new season of Search Party, co-creator Michael Showalter was saying it would return to TBS sometime this fall. Well, the new season– or, at least, John Early’s part in it– wrapped today, according to a hilarious Instagram from the show’s robot-dancing co-star. (By the way, if you haven’t seen Early in Showalter’s other recent release, Wet Hot American Summer: Ten Years Later, stop what you’re doing and binge watch it now. Aside from Early’s turn as Camp Firewood’s drama-queen drama teacher, Kim’s Video makes an amazing cameo in the first episode.)
The new season will premiere Nov. 19. Alia Shawkat told Refinery29 that things will descend into “Hitchcock paranoia” as Dory and her frenemies deal with the aftermath of their search for their missing schoolmate, and last season’s twisted finale. Early told the site that there will be “new characters played by very exciting actors.” If Instagram clues are any indicator, Christine Ebersole and Jay Duplass will be in the mix.
As for our other favorite show about listless NYC millennials, Broad City is due back Sept. 13. There’s news off-screen, as well: The show has inspired a line of sex toys such as “nature’s pocket” kegel balls, and co-creator Ilana Glazer (aka Alia Shawkat’s doppelgänger) is teaming up with Phoebe Robinson of 2 Dope Queens for a Yaaas Queen Yaaas Tour that will cross this great country in November.
Here’s the teaser for season 4:
