Ever since The Lot Radio popped up a little over a year ago, the online dance-music station and hangspot has been one of our very favorite things in Greenpoint. But it really outdid itself yesterday with a block party that offered hundreds of revelers a prime view of the East River fireworks– plus a disco ball, for good measure. DJs like Ben Steidel of Greenpoint’s Co-Op 87 Records held it down along with the folks from Dub-Stuy Records, who provided the massive sound system. DJ/chef Franco V and his overalls-sporting crew at Holy Ground were slinging barbecue outside of the San Damiano Mission, which co-hosted the fete. The church’s friars and nuns were mingling with the crowd– and some were even dancing. Thankfully, most people knew better than to hold up their phones while the fireworks were poppin’, but we still found these great shots on Instagram.
