Looks like Brooklyn Mirage, the indoor-outdoor venue run by the embattled CityFox crew, has netted a liquor license and may actually, finally open in East Williamsburg this May or June. And there’s still more good news for those looking to raise the roof without an actual roof overhead.
Nowadays, the sprawling Ridgewood outdoor venue owned by the Mister Saturday Night folks, has passed its $100,000 Kickstarter goal, which will allow it to put a “mind-blowing” sound system in the indoor space it’s building out. According to the Kickstarter, the new system comes courtesy of SBS Designs, run by Craig “Shorty” Bernabeu, who was responsible for the sound at legendary clubs like Paradise Garage and Twilo. His so-called Slammer system will set up subwoofers in four corners of what’s described as a 5,000-square-foot “indoor bar, communal dining room and dance floor,” opening in late Spring. Nowadays owners Justin Carter and Eamon Harkin assure their 890+ Kickstarter backers that the system will hark back to the glory days of the late ’90s and early aughts, and “will blow you away.”
Speaking of bone-rattling sound systems, Output also has news today. The Williamsburg megaclub just announced that its roof will return May 12 with a new theme: “an enchanted forest, inspired by topiary gardens, hedge mazes and lush greenery.” The slushies will obviously return and Sam Talbot’s Greenpoint newcomer Pretty Southern will be doing the food.
Here’s who’s on deck this year, with links to tickets and more info.
