Unless your mind is addled by poppers, you’ll recall that John Waters gave a commencement address to Rhode Island School of Design’s Class of 2015. Now the text of the speech– which includes pearls of wisdom like “go out in the world and fuck it up beautifully”– is being published in the form of an illustrated book, Make Trouble, and the Prince of Puke is making some local appearances to promote it.

First off, his second feature, Multiple Maniacs, is being screened at Alamo Drafthouse on April 13. (Funny, we were just mentioning the scene where the one and only Divine gets attacked by a giant lobster.) Tickets aren’t cheap at $51.00, but that includes the book (which retails for $14.95) and a post-screening Q&A. And trust, Waters always delivers when it comes to these things.

If you’d prefer an up-close-and-personal encounter, the Duke of Dirt is signing stuff (no live chickens, please) and taking photos with fans at the Barnes & Noble in Union Square on April 11. You’ll just have to show up and buy the book (starting at 9am that day) in order to get a wristband for the 7pm event.

If you can do without the Sultan of Sleaze in the flesh, Female Trouble will be shown at Anthology Film Archives on March 27 and 30, as part of its current Cross-Dressing on Screen series.

And if you want to go all in on Waters, he’ll be signing books and taking photos with fans at New Jersey Horror Con, in Edison, NJ, on April 1. Bonus: His longtime actress Mink Stole will also be making an appearance. Day passes to the fest are $25 ($60 for a three-day pass) and $150 gets you into Waters’s spoken-word/stand-up act, “This Filthy World: Filthier and More Horrible.”
