You wouldn’t know it from the ratsicles frozen to the subway tracks today, but festival season is almost upon us. Hot on the heels of the Red Bull Music Academy Festival’s lineup, the folks over at Northside, which returns for its ninth year June 7-11, just dropped their initial slate of artists.

Performers include Dirty Projectors, jazz giant Kamasi Washington, Martin Rev with his Suicide producer Craig Leon (Rev is releasing an album on Leon’s label in May), post-hardcore band Thursday, Baltimore’s Lower Dens performing Abba Gold, and Mary Timony of Ex Hex, Wild Flag, and Autoclave playing songs from her ’90s band Helium. (Matador is rereleasing the band’s albums on vinyl in May and is also putting out Ends With And, a 19-track double LP of rarities, b-sides, and unreleased demos.)

Northside’s initial lineup of speakers is also out, and includes Sasheer Zamata of SNL as well as others from Vox, Vice, The Fader, The New York Times, and Greenpoint creative agency M ss ng P eces. Oh, and also Missy Suicide of the Suicide Girls.
