Signs on East 7th Street indicate that WASP2016 is filming there. No, it isn’t a documentary about white dudes in Polo shirts taking over the East Village (though we’re probably due for one). It’s Woody Allen’s Summer Project, which is set to film on the block between First and Second Avenues this afternoon.

As of this morning, this old-timey sign outside of Agavi Organic Juice Bar was the only prop we saw on the block, where David Simon’s HBO series, The Deuce, filmed in June. A notice says filming will occur from approximately 1pm to 7pm.

According to Page Six, this new one is set in 1950s Coney Island, where principal photography was set to begin today. It stars Kate Winslet, Justin Timberlake (as a lifeguard), James Belushi, Tony Sirico, and Juno Temple. A notice posted in Vinegar Hill indicates it’s also shooting there today.

As for why the Woodman’s “summer project” is shooting in September, well, the guy’s been busy. Even with Cafe Society (which filmed in Chinatown almost exactly a year ago) still showing at Angelika, Amazon just released the trailer for his new Amazon series, Crisis in Six Scenes, which premieres Sept. 30. Per Vulture, the series stars Woody himself as– you guessed it– a blocked tv writer and will focus on “a middle-class suburban family in the 1960s that gets thrown into confusion by the arrival of a hippie girl played by Miley Cyrus, who probably will not twerk, but will steal Woody’s oranges.”

Update, 4:15 p.m.: Looks like the shoot is getting started on the later side, as the crew was still setting up as of about half an hour ago. This car is now on the scene.
