Beauty & Essex cleverly fronts as a jewelry store, but last month two men decided they’d have better luck snatching bling outside of the Lower East Side club. When that didn’t go smoothly, shots were fired, sending a man to the hospital.
The incident happened shortly before 3:30 a.m. on the morning of August 9, when a 31-year-old man was approached by two individuals, police say. One of the individuals, wearing a Metallica t-shirt and a baseball cap, demanded the 31-year-old’s jewelry. Police say the man tried to run and was shot in the left leg by the second suspect, who like the first was tattooed on both arms. With that, the first suspect allegedly pilfered the victim’s jewelry as he was lying on the ground. The suspects, shown in the above photo, fled north in a red BMW and the victim was eventually taken to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition, police said.
The first suspect is shown above. Here’s surveillance video of the second one.
