Oh, yay! Dinosaur Jr. has announced a new show at Rough Trade, which is good news if you found out about their surprise House of Vans show at the last minute, or if you didn’t want to shell out to see them open for Jane’s Addiction at Coney Island’s shiny new concert venue.
If you didn’t try to catch the indie stalwarts at Ford Ampitheater on Friday, you may have been spared. I ponied up for tix only to miss the band because the showtime on the ticket was an hour later than the actual concert start time. Add to which, security lines (and the beer lines!) were TSA-worthy. Feel the pain, indeed. Hey, maybe it’s my fault for not forgetting ’90s bands exist. Fun fact for next time: you could hear the bands and sneak peeks of the jumbotrons clearly from the boardwalk.
Anyway, on August 5 (the release date of their new album Give a Glimpse of What Yer Not) you’ll have the chance to see Dinosaur in a blessedly small room– albeit one that isn’t walking distance to the Cyclone. The Amex presale starts tomorrow, Wednesday, and the general on-sale is this Friday. Tix are $30 here. To get you amped (Marshall amped, that is!), here’s a just-released compendium of all of J. Mascis’s solos from the new album. RAWK.
