Over the weekend, a reader sent us a photo of the John Varvatos store, with the subject line “RIP JV?”

“WTF?” he wrote. “Just took this pic. Doors are boarded up.”

But don’t worry/celebrate, Varvatos hasn’t gone the way of CBGB before it. It’s tempting to imagine a branch of the CBs restaurant coming to 315 Bowery, but you won’t be seeing one of the rock club’s original awnings reinstalled here just yet. While a Varvatos spokesperson declined to comment, a worker at the site told us the store was being prepped for an event, and it would reopen by the middle of the week. A glance at the Times guide to Men’s Fashion Week shows that Varvatos is planning a “multimedia experience,” complete with “loud music and retro rock star tailoring,” on Tuesday.

You’re definitely not getting into that. But around the corner, at Howl Happening on Thursday, 6 p.m., you’re more than welcome to attend the opening of Marcia Resnick’s solo show, Punks, Poets and Provocateurs. It’ll feature photos, taken between 1977 and 1982, of John Varvatos poster boy Iggy Pop as well as Johnny Thunders, Joey Ramone, James Brown, David Byrne, Klaus Nomi, Mick Jagger, Allen Ginsberg, William S. Burroughs, Gregory Corso, Abbie Hoffman, Divine, Jackie Curtis, Quentin Crisp, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Christo, Anthony Bourdain, Fab 5 Freddy, Charles Ludlam, John Belushi, Debbie Harry and Lydia Lunch.
