We’ve been rubbing our grubby hands together in anticipation of the premiere of ZomBikers aka Vamp Bikers Tres, the Coney Island horror film starring Michael Alig in the roll he was born to play– King of the Club Kid Zombies. Filmmaker Eric Rivas invited us to the carnival-side set last month, where we were inundated with (legit) bikers, busty witches, and of course, the E’d-out, colorful zombie squad led by Alig. But in the meantime, we’ve been given a great gift– the official Vamp Bikers Tres music video starring the Brooklyn all-lady rap trio, Hand Job Academy.
In addition to Alig betchily calling out someone who “stole my hair,” notable Alig chronicler Michael Musto makes an appearance, and club owner Noel Ashman (known for star-swarmed spots like The Leonora in Chelsea, the bygone Veruka, and briefly Studio 54 part deux) acts as the MC.
The video (which also functions as a trailer) was shot last weekend in Coney, of course. And Rivas told us he thought the rap outfit, which was referred to him by Michael Alig, made a perfect candidate for a cameo in the third and final part of the Vamp Bikers Trilogy. “There’s a lot of hip-hop culture in the film,” Rivas said. “It is how I grew up in New York City being Nuyorican, and I love seeing empowered woman since I grew up with a single mother.”
Among other stunning images, the music video features zombies bumping, witches grinding, and a beautiful woman silently crying.
Stay tuned for “Vamp Bikers Tres,” premiering at Anthology Film Archives on March 1 at 8:45 pm, part of the New Filmmakers program.
