We all know someone who collects coins, PEZ dispensers or even pop culture memorabilia. But for some of New York City’s most fascinating collectors, their collections are less a hobby and more like an obsession. Sometimes it’s even a full-time job.
Williamsburg’s City Reliquary gathered some unique displays, everything from taxidermy to jars of sand, at the Brooklyn Historical Society on Wednesday night to show that the city’s history can hide in the most curious of artifacts. We spoke with everyone from a Troll doll collector (whose fetish objects of choice have gotten something of a bad rap in the last few years) to a guy who for some confounding reason amasses pizza boxes.
