After Community Board 3 failed to get behind The Cock’s plans to take over Lit Lounge’s home on Second Avenue, it sounded like the gay dive’s owner, Allan Mannarelli, was going to go forward with the move anyway. “I will prevail, and when I do get there you’ll realize that we are good neighbors, we’re not bad neighbors,” Mannarelli told locals at a contentious meeting with CB 3’s liquor licensing committee back in August. Now, it seems like Mannarelli might be reevaluating things.

In the calendar of meetings recently mailed out by CB 3, Lit Lounge is back on the agenda — this time for the SLA committee’s November 16 meeting. Mannarelli explains to us over e-mail that he’s “trying to buy 100% of the membership interests of LIT as well as actually dividing the space into 2 separate floors and 2 separate venues and seeing if we can interest someone more suitable for the ground floor.”

A notice submitted to the community board indicates Mannarelli wants to be able to host live music, DJs, karaoke, and stage shows in the basement.

But would that legendary den of iniquity still be known as Lit? Or would The Cock take it over?

Mannarelli’s answer came in the form of a quasi-riddle:

everything still undecided, but dr seuss chimed in
