We’ve been waiting for Sharkmuffin’s new album to drop ever since we talked to them pre-SXSW and got their thoughts on being named one of Billboard’sĀ All-Female Bands You Need to Know. The new album, featuring Hole vetĀ Patty Schemel on drums, doesn’t come out till Aug. 7, but in the meantime the garage-grunge (garunge?) trioĀ has given us the honor of premiering the video for “First Date.”

In it,Ā Mike Lande, lead singer of Happy Lives, sprints between Tinder dates — one with Sharkmuffin guitarist/vocalist Tarra Thiessen at PinkertonĀ and the other with bassistĀ Natalie Kirch atĀ Muchmore’s, a few blocks away in Williamsburg.Ā Apparently,Ā that’s not all the #tinderking had his hands full with during the shoot. Thiessen tells us LandeĀ “had one of the girls he’s been seeing come hang out (not sure if he met her on Tinder or not) so he as actually on a triple date.”

We’ve all been there. Another fun fact from Thiessen: “I also broke the wine glass at the end of the video right in front of the owner of Muchmore’s at the end and he wasn’t too pleased with me.”

Whatever:Ā Hannibal Buress would be proud.

Sharkmuffin has a couple of local shows coming up, including an Aug. 7 album launchĀ party at Shea Stadium (the new 10-track record, Chartreuse,Ā will be releasedĀ on vinyl byĀ State CapitolĀ and digitally byĀ Little Dickman Records)Ā and a Sept. 1 gig opening for The Bottom Dollars at Brooklyn Bowl. But we may just have to catch them on the boardwalk in Dirty Jerz. TheyĀ playĀ the Asbury Park Yacht Club on Saturday, Aug. 8. Shark bites all around!
