Tis the season for changes in the Brooklyn blogosphere. While one blog looks for new leadership, another is ready to expand upward and outward into a new kind of platform.
Jen G. Pywell, editor-in-chief of Greenpointers, has  that the blog is for sale. Pywell and her husband recently moved to Oregon, where she’s been riding mules and continuing to run the blog for the past few months. So far it’s been doable, and though Pywell plans to return to Greenpoint for the blog’s holiday market at the start of December, she says it’s time “for someone with even more creative energy to run with it and make it even better!” The editor is accepting proposals for anyone interested in running the blog.
And as Bushwick continues to blow up, it seems that Bushwick Daily is ready to grow right along with the neighborhood. The blog is aiming to crowd-fund $25,000 to redesign its platform and reinvent Bushwick Daily as a “Village” that allows local businesses to offer loyalty rewards.
The new design sounds like something halfway between hyperlocal blog coverage and local advertising. Katarina Hybenova, the founder and editor-in-chief of Bushwick Daily, says the shift towards marrying “content” with hyper-local news “makes so much sense,” and will be a better business model for the site, making it “truly sustainable.”
The fundraising campaign starts today and runs for the next 30 days. Prizes include a “Bushwick Royalty” beanie for the small-time donors and things like a private cocktail party for the high rollers. You can read more about the campaign over here.
