As New York pointed out a few months ago, the coffee bar, which barely fits a couple of people, is run by a congenial Italian couple who bring the cutting-edge of their home country’s brewing methods to the table, and experiment with their own cocktail-like coffee concoctions.
Sadly workaday mofos in need of a fix will now be unable to climb the stairway to caffeine heaven; owner Giovanni Finotto says he wants to devote his weekdays to “research and experiments and be able to come up with new interesting things more often,” per a message posted on the door (see below). Oh well, at least it didn’t happen during Shakerato season.
‘I Am Coffee’ Will Only Be Coffee On the Weekends
I Am Coffee, the quirky, tiny coffee bar tucked into the second floor of a building on St. Marks Place, is scaling back to two days a week, according to a sign on the door. Which makes it even quirkier!
