Beach_WaterWhiteHallPlaza CLEANYesterday we told you about Game On!, which’ll bring board games, beer gardens, and a mini mini-golf course to the East River waterfront this summer. Now we have a rendering of the beach that’ll open at Water Street and Whitehall Plaza this Thursday.

A rep for the Alliance for Downtown New York tells us Joanna Pertz Landscape Architecture plans to install 40 cubic yards of sand, or about 60 tons. The sandbox will be about 25 feet wide.

The oval shapes you see in the rendering are “dunes,” the white rectangles are lounge chairs, and the umbrellas are, well, umbrellas. And yes, those are two shuffleboard courts you see there.

Right now the site, across from the Staten Island Ferry Terminal, looks like your standard pedestrian plaza, as you can see below. Before you pack your badminton rackets: this won’t be the most relaxing beach, since the street next to it is heavily trafficked by buses and trucks. But hey, there’s free WiFi (we’re using it to post this right now).
