As if the Dumpling Man weren’t enough to contend with, Plump Dumpling is about to get some competition — right across the street. Signage for Mimi’s Cheng’s Dumplings — opening this summer — was just unveiled at 179 Second Avenue, formerly the home of Viva Herbal Pizzeria.
Co-founder Marian Cheng is a former account executive at Burberry and
Dolce & Gabbana. From the looks of the Mimi’s Dumplings Instagram, the dumplings are based on a family recipe and will feature ingredients like “farm fresh” shiitake mushrooms. They’ll be “organic, sustainable, handmade daily,” according to a sign in the window.
This video should give you an idea of how they’re made.
And here’s the finished product.
