Saturday Night Live was on hiatus last weekend, but cast member Sasheer Zamata could still be found performing before an audience in the wee hours. Just before 1 a.m. Saturday morning, Zamata and others hit the stage at UCBeast and did their best to pull some TED Talks out of their asses.
Hosted by Matt Dennie and Josh Sharp, Cool Shit/Weird Shit has previously presented everything from a 13-foot-long dragon to a live-reading from professional kid scarer R.L. Stine.
This time, Dennie and Sharp put together four Powerpoint presentations composed of random images, color-coded charts, and unhelpful statistics. Performers got 10 minutes apiece to deliver a talk based on these disconnected slides, which they weren’t allowed to see in advance.
Play our video above and watch as each comedian is forced to scrap whatever preconceived narrative he or she brought to the stage, in favor of these topics:
- Shaun Diston — “Hitler’s Mustache and The Facial Hair of Fascism”
- Veronica Osorio — “I’ll Have What She’s Having: The Benefits of Eating Other People’s Food”
- Seth Herzog — “Your Doorman Will Be an iPhone by 2050”
- Nicole Byer and Sasheer Zamata — “The Pollution Solution”
